Were we to have the salon somewhere in the US, I was thinking today, we wouldn’t even be having this conversation. But then we would, too. Because even though Donna doesn’t write so much about travel impressions and actual sights, her poetry and her language are utterly imbued with the experience of the foreign. Imbued with a “Cosmopolitan” quality. Crisp, clear, even comical, ...and cosmopolitan.
Come and hear for yourselves on March 31, 2012 (Saturday, 8 p.m.), when I will present Donna Stonecipher at the salon. She is the author of three volumes of poetry: The Cosmopolitan (2008), Souvenir de Constantinople (2007), and The Reservoir (2002). She lives in Berlin. And she is one of my favorite poets!
Donna Stonecipher will be reading from The Cosmopolitan, and from Model City, a work in progress. For the translators among you, we might read translations of a few of her poems. For non-native speakers photocopies will be made available (upon prior notice).
Please note: This salon is non-commercial and non-public. RSVP at kontakt@inapfitzner.net and let me know if you need photocopies. I would also appreciate last-minute cancellations so that I can plan (chairs, should we wait some more?, etc.). Showing up on time ensures good seats and an undisturbed reading for all.
Oh, and I’m almost out of wine. Beverages, food (which doesn’t require plates), flowers, etc. will be most appreciated.
Best,
Ina
